All lessons are in person at our home studio in Bonney Lake WA.

As this is an in-home studio, Lindsay does have 3 small dogs: Max, Scamp, and Riley. They will be in the studio and they most likely will bark. If there is fear, please inform the teachers before your first lesson. They will make accommodations as they can.

Discontinuing Lessons:One months notice is required to stop your lessons at any time during the school year. You must make the full monthly tuition payment for any month in which you receive one or more lessons.

Tuition Covers: Weekly lessons (except during scheduled breaks) and any extra ensemble rehearsal time required for performance events. This totals 15 reserved lessons plus any ensemble rehearsals for each student who completes the entire 2025 Fall session.

Music and Materials Fee: Music and materials are paid separately from tuition once each year or upon registration with the studio. The Registration/Material Fee for fall 2025 is $20. (A family discount is available) This covers new music purchases for your student as well as paper, ink, supplies, software and administrative costs. Time to time the teacher may purchase books for the student, or have the student purchase their own books. If the teacher purchases a book for a student it is the responsibility of the student to pay for that book. This fee partially covers the cost of Studio events only and is not refundable. *This fee does not apply to Audition Prep Lessons.

Recital Fee: There may be a minimal recital fee charged to cover recital costs for renting a space, paying for an accompanist, program creation, and refreshments. If there is a fee it will be communicated prior to the recital. If you can help with any of these items to minimize the cost please inform the teachers.

1. Practice: To learn a new instrument practice is required. The voice is made up of many complex muscles and it requires regular exercise of healthy vocal technique. The student’s progress and success in their lessons is directly related to the amount of time and energy that they put in to practicing their instrument. At each lesson, students will learn new techniques and review old techniques that should be applied with practicing. For the best results, students should commit to warming up and practicing 5 days per week for at least 30 minutes per day. For voice students, all recital songs will be memorized.

2. Missed Lessons: The teacher’s time has been set aside for each student’s lesson and payment is required for each lesson. If a lesson needs to be rescheduled, 2 days notice is required. The teachers will work with the student to find a mutually agreed upon makeup lesson. If a makeup lesson cannot be scheduled due to the teachers schedule, a credit will be given for the next month.

3. Sickness: Do not come to lessons when you are sick. If you have had a cough, sore throat, sniffles, runny nose, fever, vomiting, aching, or any other symptom of an illness within the previous 24 hours, please stay home. You can work with the teachers to find a suitable makeup lesson time. Resume practicing as soon as you are able, so your next lesson will be fantastic!

4. Lesson Etiquette : When you arrive for your lesson DO NOT KNOCK or RING THE DOORBELL. You can enter VERY QUIETLY 3 minutes before your scheduled lesson time and come straight over to the music room and have a seat in the chairs outside the gate. This is to ensure the least disruption for the lesson before yours. The studio teachers have small dogs. They will bark when you enter. Parents and family are welcome to stay for the lesson but we ask that you not come and go throughout or in the middle as that causes disruption and is hard to get back on track.

5. Communication: The Dueling Diva’s Music Studio communicates primarily through text messages. A group text will be created for each student/parent. We will also communicate through email as needed. All communication about an upcoming lesson should be sent to the group text so that both teachers are aware.

6. Supply List: Students should bring the following to each lesson:

~ A bag to carry music and your notebook.

~ A pencil for marking music and taking notes

~ A water bottle

~ A notebook to write down notes that were given at the lesson. (Teachers will provide at first lesson)

~ Any music given. Please do not leave music at home. In most cases the teacher will not have two copies of the music that you are using. If you forget your music, you are only hindering yourself and the lesson that you are paying for.

7. Student Responsibilities:

~ Arrive on time with previous assignments completed.

~ Bring music, notebook, theory books and any other materials needed to each lesson.

~ Pay attention during lessons and follow directions.

~ Ask questions if you don't understand; otherwise, we'll assume you do!

~ Tell the teachers of any vocal discomfort or strain experienced during lessons or practice

~ Develop and stick to a practice routine.

~ Keep a positive attitude.

~ Be ready to work hard.

~ Have FUN!

8. Parent Responsibilities:

~ Remind the student to practice and provide an atmosphere that is quiet for them to practice in.

~ Be supportive of the student's desire to learn music.

~ Pay tuition at the first lesson of each month unless prior arrangements have been made with the teachers.

~ Ask questions of the teachers and communicate any concerns-communication is essential!

~ Make sure student's instruments are kept in tune/good working order.

~ Encourage student to participate in recitals.
